Callum McGregor has sent Brendan Rodgers a message after rumours linked the Celtic skipper to join his old gaffer Al Qasidah.

The Hoops skipper has been at Parkhead for almost all of his career as McGregor becomes one of Celtic’s most decorated players of all time.

As rumours linked McGregor with a Celtic exit to Saudi, fans would have been worried about losing their captain at a time where the squad needs strengthening.

Callum McGregor ‘determined’ to stay at Celtic

Celtic fans can now relax as McGregor tells Brendan Rodgers he’s ‘determined’ to stay at the club and fight for the Scottish Premiership title.

McGregor told The Daily Mail, “No, no, I’m here. Even more determined [to stay at Celtic]. Even more, because of what’s happened.

“We’ve had a difficult spell, we’re used to winning, then things don’t go your way.

“So, now you have to show everyone that you want to be a winner and you want to stay and you want to fight, and you want to make the club successful.

“Yeah, that’s the message.”

Celtic’s next five crucial Scottish Premiership fixtures

Celtic’s fixture schedule continues to be hectic as Martin O’Neill looks to get every last ounce out of his squad to defend the title.
