Brendan Rodgers’ sudden Celtic departure rocked the club and fans alike.

It was the second time that Rodgers had walked out on the club mid-season, albeit in different circumstances this season.

It forced the Hoops into the interim appointment of Martin O’Neill, and despite this leading to improved results, he was still replaced by Wilfried Nancy.

Since then, Celtic have lost four consecutive games, in an unprecedented start for a Parkhead manager. It feels like a lot is going to need to change if Nancy is to turn it around.

And if reports are to be believed, there could be more significant changes taking place in the short-term.

Could this formation be used at Celtic by Wilfried Nancy? Let us know how you would line up in the comments.

Brendan Rodgers linked with two key Celtic figures

Rodgers has taken over at Al-Qadsiah in the Saudi Pro League, in his first managerial role outside of the United Kingdom.

The ambitious oil-funded club were only promoted to the division last year, but have aspirations to challenge for the biggest titles in Asia.

And according to the Scottish Sun, Rodgers wants to reunite with Celtic captain Callum McGregor in order to achieve that.

It would be a pretty sensational move, given McGregor’s status as a one-club man (excluding loan spells).

The idea of McGregor leaving feels unthinkable, and with the midfielder captained until 2028, Celtic would understandably fight to keep a hold of him.

But given how things have started under Nancy, McGregor’s place in the team long-term could not be as guaranteed as once thought.

And he isn’t the only long-serving Celtic figure being linked with an exit.

On the Go Radio Football Show, journalist Mark Guidi has claimed that Celtic’s 2-1 defeat to Dundee United could be Stevie Woods’ last game.

The goalkeeping coach is reportedly not seeing eye-to-eye with Nancy, and could therefore leave the Hoops after almost two decades.

Given his long-standing relationship with Rodgers and John Kennedy, Woods could then be another to follow Rodgers to the Middle East.

What did Wilfried Nancy say about Celtic goalkeeping coach Stevie Woods?

Rumours of an exit for Woods first emerged of a departure for Woods before the Premier Sports Cup final against St Mirren.

Questioned on the speculation, Nancy said: “No, he’s here. He trained with us, he’s committed to what he does, so this is the most important.”

At that game however, a miscommunication between Woods, Nancy and Kieran Tierney was spotted on camera, not reflecting well on their working relationship.

And with so many of his former Celtic colleagues gone, the timing could be right to become the latest key departure this season.
