Cameron Carter-Vickers attracting Premier League interest as Celtic given clear transfer warning

Despite his clear quality, Cameron Carter-Vickers hasn’t been linked with a big money Celtic exit too often.

The American defender has been central to Celtic’s success over the last four years since he was signed initially on loan by Ange Postecoglou.

He then made a £6m permanent switch from Tottenham Hotspur and has won nine major trophies as a Celtic player so far.

The Hoops have managed to keep him on the books, despite interest from Bayer Leverkusen in January this year and last summer when it was reported Celtic rejected three separate advances for him.

However, 67 Hail Hail have been told Celtic face a fight to keep him beyond the current summer transfer window.

Three to four Premier League clubs interested in Carter-Vickers

67 Hail Hail and our transfer correspondent Graeme Bailey understand that as many as four Premier League clubs are interested in signing Carter-Vickers.

Carter-Vickers is very much content at Celtic Park, however he may now feel ready to take the leap back down to England’s top-flight.

Bailey states that the Hoops are in danger of seeing Carter-Vickers leave the Parkhead club before the end of the transfer window.

Bailey told 67 Hail Hail: “I think the interesting part of that conversation is, are they keeping Carter-Vickers? There’s a lot of interest in Cameron Carter-Vickers. He’s had an exceptional few years.

“The player is very happy at Parkhead but is he ready to return to the Premier League? I think he might be from what I’m told.

“I think there’s a good three or four Premier League clubs, from what I’m told, who hold a serious interest in him and I think Celtic might be up against it keeping him.

“As we know, every player has his price in this Celtic squad. And I think there’s a real danger that Carter-Vickers leaves.

“That won’t go down well, but Celtic could probably get good money for him. And I think there’s a real chance that he’s not at Celtic come the start of September.”

Brendan Rodgers loves having Carter-Vickers at Celtic

Brendan Rodgers would be lost without Carter-Vickers, let’s make that clear.

Liam Scales and Auston Trusty haven’t been the most consistent defensive partners for the USMNT international, but they do play better alongside him.

Celtic as a whole team play way better, but if the right type of bid comes in this summer, they may be convinced to sell up and secure a hefty profit.

After signing a new contract in January 2024, Rodgers said this about Carter-Vickers: “He has been an absolute rock for us since he joined the club and has played to such a high standard so regularly, week in, week out.

“He has been such a pillar of strength in our defence and a real leader in the team — I know he is held in such high regard, too, by his team mates.

“His qualities as a player, his personality and his absolute commitment to the game make him a real joy to work with.”
