Reported Celtic transfer target Kevin Nisbet certainly caught the eye last night against the Netherlands.

Winning just his second Scotland cap, the Hibernian striker smashed home a brilliant Andy Robertson cross to help his country to a creditable 2-2 friendly draw.

Undoubtedly, it’s the best standard of opposition he’s come up against in his career so far. He passed his 28-minute test with flying colours.

The striker now has a chance of earning competitive international football at this summer’s Euros. Celtic must be on alert if they fancy his services.

Interest from the Bhoys was reported last month by The Scottish Sun. They claimed that both Nisbet and Aaron Hickey were on a transfer option list presented to then managerial candidate Eddie Howe.

Kevin Nisbet showing form good enough for Celtic

After rising through the Scottish lower leagues, Nisbet got his big chance to impress in the top-flight with Hibernian last season.

It was an excellent debut campaign for him. He netted 18 goals and assisted eight more in all competitions. That helped Hibs to the Scottish Cup Final and a third-placed league finish.

Now doing the business on the big stage with Scotland, no doubt other teams will be paying attention. If he performs well at the Euros, we could quickly find ourselves out of contention.

Obviously our recruitment is hampered right now because we lack a manager. All the more reason to get Ange Postecoglou, or whoever, in the door as quickly as possible.

Fans continue to be impressed by Nisbet and no doubt he’d be a popular acquisition.
