Celtic’s hopes of landing Tjark Ernst have taken a blow after Feyenoord jumped into the race and made a concrete offer for the goalkeeper.
Ernst is wanted by Celtic as the Parkhead club look for reinforcements in the number one area after the retirement of Kasper Schmeichel last season.
But now, it seems after days of speculation surrounding a possible move to Celtic, Feyenoord have nipped in with an offer and a firm promise to the 23-year-old Hertha Berlin star.
Should Celtic fans be worried about O’Neill’s transfer comments?
Feyenoord make Celtic target Tjark Ernst an offer and firm promise
According to Dutch outlet FR12, Feyenoord have placed a ‘concrete’ bid of €5m to activate the goalkeeper’s contract buy-out clause.
No messing around with protracted transfer negotiations, the Eredivisie club have just made their intentions crystal clear.
And on top of that, Feyenoord have not only made Ernst an offer, they have promised the goalkeeper that he must come to De Kuip as their first-choice goalkeeper.
Feyenoord are not messing about and it seems that Celtic’s dithering could cost them another transfer target in the summer window.
Celtic’s time is running out to land Ernst
If Celtic are genuinely interested in bringing Ernst to Glasgow, they had better make their minds up and get the offer in. Feyenoord are not messing about as they show the 23-year-old some serious love.
And why should the Parkhead club make their move? Ernst’s Fotmob stats from last season are why:
- 99 saves across the season.
- 69.2% save percentage, a solid figure over a full campaign.
- 8.66 goals prevented, meaning he saved almost nine more goals than an average goalkeeper would have been expected to concede from the shots he faced.
- 11 clean sheets.
- Zero errors leading directly to a goal.
- 18 sweeper actions, showing he’s comfortable coming off his line.
- 73.3% passing accuracy.
- 239 accurate long balls at 44.1% accuracy, highlighting his ability to start attacks from deep.
Ernst isn’t just a young goalkeeper making his name in the game, he is producing some serious performances at Hertha. It’s little wonder Feyenoord have gone all in on him.
