Celtic look like they need a striker, and Louis Munteanu could be the perfect option for the Hoops.
Munteanu was on Celtic’s radar in the summer and the 23-year-old did everything he could to try and force a move away from Romanian outfit CFR Cluj.
In the end, nobody could match their asking price and the forward remained; however, circumstances have changed.
Cluj are in severe financial difficulty and need to raise funds. This may mean selling their best players, which includes Munteanu.
Would you rather have wing-backs or a striker join the club in January?
Cluj president wants to sell Louis Munteanu
Times are hard for the former Romanian giants. So much so that they are now actively hoping their best players are sold.
In an honest interview, Cluj president Iuliu Muresan admitted that he was hoping that he could sell last season’s free-scoring striker in January.
He told DigiSport: “I hope Louis transfers to a club, we get some money and solve our problems.
“The amount has decreased because his performance is no longer at the same level.
“Should Louis Munteanu be given £6m?) I say yes, but I hope it’s 7-8. But he should want to go there too, because the player is not a commodity.”
What is the one player you wish that Celtic had signed?
Celtic have the chance to solve striker problem
Goals have been a real issue for Celtic so far after losing over 40 from Nicolas Kuhn and Adam Idah last season.
Daizen Maeda has been nowhere near the heights of last year, and the rest of the squad isn’t chipping in.
Anyone else who has had a go in the number nine position has been too hit and miss to really make it theirs.

Munteanu is proven and would come in eager to go as part of a fresh start.
The chance to sign him for peanuts doesn’t come around often, and Celtic will regret it if they don’t at least attempt it.
