Celtic are reportedly to go ‘all out’ for Las Palmas goalkeeper Dinko Horkas this summer.

He is the latest in a long line of stoppers to be linked, with the retirement of Kasper Schmeichel creating a vacancy.

It emerged on Wednesday that Celtic were one of the clubs interested in Horkas, who is expected to leave the Gran Canaria club after they missed out on promotion back to La Liga.

Hull City, Olympiacos and Sevilla are also in the race for the Croatian goalkeeper, but the Hoops’ interest appears to be very serious.

Celtic ‘negotiating’ for Dinko Horkas

According to Spanish journalist Angel Garcia, Celtic are negotiating the signing of Horkas and are willing to pay a fee to bring him to Glasgow this summer.

CeltsAreHere report that the fee is unlikely to be less than €10 million.

If Celtic are to invest so much in the goalkeeper, it’ll be a major indication that Martin O’Neill wants a new number-one goalkeeper.

Following the injury of Schmeichel that eventually caused his retirement last season, Viljami Sinisalo held the fort for the campaign’s final months.

Horkas is a product of the famed academy at Dinamo Zagreb, but was never the first-choice goalkeeper in the Croatian capital. Instead, he played in Bulgaria before hitting his stride in Spain.

Las Palmas president Miguel Angel Ramirez recently complained about clubs negotiating with the 27-year-old before approaching his employers.

He said: “We haven’t received any official offers from Dinko, although we know there are interested clubs.

“But those clubs have got off to a bad start with us, because they’re negotiating with him without negotiating with us.

“We want to keep him at the club.

“We have managed to get Jose Antonio Caro to sign a new contract with us and we want to have two great goalkeepers at the club.”

Goalkeepers being linked with Celtic currently

Tjark Ernst has also recently been revealed to be a Celtic target, though other clubs are leading the race for the German goalkeeper.

The Celts are also behind in the chase for Mat Ryan, who is currently holding talks over a return to Club Brugge.

The club missed out on Jari de Busser, having made contact with his club only for the Belgian to join AZ Alkmaar.

Motherwell stopper Calum Ward is also reportedly of interest, along with his club teammates Elijah Just, Tawanda Maswanhise and Elliot Watt.
