Celtic are firming up their pursuit of new arrivals and could be in for a busy week and a half before the end of the transfer window.
The last 24 hours have been chaotic for supporters to keep up with, knowing that Matt O’Riley is nearing a move to Brighton & Hove Albion for a fee that could eclipse the Scottish transfer record.
This morning, Manchester City’s interest in Kyogo Furuhashi came to the fore unexpectedly, with the Premier League champions on the lookout for new forward options amid Julian Alvarez’s departure and Oscar Bobb’s recent injury.
If you still have hold of your hat, Celtic are in talks to sign Mateusz Bogusz from Major League Soccer outfit LAFC, who has scored 16 times in 32 appearances this season.
Regarding a fee, it is believed the Bhoys could pay between £6.8 million to £8.5 million for the versatile 22-year-old, who can play through the middle or as an attacking midfielder.
Brendan Rodgers confirmed Celtic are on the lookout for two midfielders if O’Rileys departure goes through. With that in mind, circumstances have changed in their pursuit of an engine room target.
Celtic could land Alvyn Sanches for cheaper than first thought
Lausanne-Sport midfielder Alvyn Sanches has been on Celtic’s radar this window, and the Bhoys have sent scouts to watch the Switzerland Under-21 international in action on several occasions throughout 2024.
Now, The Express report that the 21-year-old would welcome a move to Scotland. Not only that, he is now said to be available for £3 million rather than the £4.3 million fee quoted this summer.

No bid has been made to try and secure his services yet, but further talks have been held between all parties. Celtic believe Sanches could develop into a ‘top player’ if they were to land him before the deadline.
Personal terms aren’t thought to be an issue either, so it now remains to be seen if the reigning Scottish Premiership champions present an offer worthy of Lausanne’s consideration.
Celtic have their eye on several midfield targets
Clubs rarely put all their eggs in one basket when it comes to targeting certain positions. Several players are usually involved before one prevails.
Augsburg’s Arne Engels continues to be mentioned as a potential O’Riley successor and his current employers are open to cashing in should the right circumstances emerge. On the same token, Dundee captain Luke McCowan is a Celtic target and is said to be available for £1 million.
Despite links to other midfielders picking up pace, The Celtic Way claim the 26-year-old is still ‘firmly’ on their radar, albeit no approach has been made for the Scottish Premiership star as of yet.
Rodgers wants two midfielders, and it appears the Bhoys are compiling a compelling list of options to grant the Irishman his wish.
