Celtic’s Brendan Rodgers has additions on his priority list this window after to ensure his squad are adequately equipped to see out the second half of the campaign in style.

Last weekend, the Bhoys overcame injury issues to see off Ross County in Dingwall, but that isn’t a scenario he wants to continue after having to find new solutions across his front four.

Encouragingly, Nicolas Kuhn is back in contention to face Dundee tonight following his absence against Ross County. The same cannot be said for Daizen Maeda, who is touch and go for the clash at Dens Park.

With all that said, Celtic have prioritised bringing in a winger or two this month. Rumours are floating around in the background, and Sarpsborg’s Sondre Ørjasæter is a target for the Bhoys.

Now, Brendan Rodgers has his eyes on another star with potential that could come into to strengthen the flanks this month.

Celtic want to sign Louie Barry from Aston Villa

According to Mailsport, Celtic are interested in taking Aston Villa’s Louie Barry on loan due to his form out on loan at Stockport County in the first half of the campaign.

Featuring predominantly as a left winger, the 21-year-old has registered 16 goals in 24 appearances and has been recalled by the Premier League club who intend to run the rule over him this month.

Middlesborough and Leeds United are also keeping tabs on his situation, with Rodgers keen to enact a loan move to bring the former England Under-18 international to Parkhead.

However, Aston Villa may take issue with that, given that they are already close to filling their ‘full quota of foreign loans’ relating to Premier League regulations.

Celtic could trim squad to make way for Louie Barry

Yesterday, Rodgers made clear that Luis Palma could leave Celtic this month owing to a frustrating few months where minutes have been limited for the Honduras international.

Should the 24-year-old depart, replacements will be needed to supplement squad depth with quality. Barry looks to fit into that description if his first half of the season is anything to go by.

Whether the Bhoys can pull off a swoop remains to be determined, but the EFL has proved to be a treasure trove in the past for Celtic, even if the man in question was on loan from an English top-fligth club.

Aston Villa have a decision to make on his next move, but Celtic surely represent an appealing destination for the in-form starlet as they aim to strengthen their first-team squad.
