Celtic are now into deadline day and will be among several clubs scrambling around to complete some last-minute business.

Brendan Rodgers looks like he will have at least one signing arrive at Parkhead today after Norwich City striker Adam Idah was pictured at Glasgow Airport last night [Anthony Joseph].

The Republic of Ireland international has agreed on a loan deal until the end of the season with no option to buy present in the agreement.

Idah will join Celtic winger Nicolas Kuhn at the Scottish Premiership holders after the latter touched down midway through January.

Greg Taylor is injured and isn’t due back for at least a ‘few weeks’, which has made bringing in a left-back a priority for the Hoops before 11.30 pm, as per Football Scotland.

Estoril’s Tiago Araujo and Dundee loanee Owen Beck were both looked at to provide competition in the area; however, overtures for the pair during the window didn’t progress.

Truthfully, the Hoops have left it extremely late in their search for reinforcements; nevertheless, there could be hope yet in the hunt for late additions.

Layvin Kurzawa emerges as a surprise Celtic target

Paris Saint-Germain left-back Layvin Kurzawa has enjoyed a distinguished career at the elite level, making 154 appearances for the French giants during his nine-year spell, registering 14 goals and 23 assists [Transfermarkt].

Now 31, he is on the periphery at Parc des Princes and has now emerged as a surprise option to bolster Rodgers’ depth on the left-hand side of his backline.

According to The Daily Mail, the 13-cap France international’s agent has floated the possibility of the veteran full-back moving to Parkhead before the deadline.

Kurzawa has only made one appearance in Ligue 1 this campaign, and his entourage is keen to find him a new environment to ply his trade. The Bhoys are now believed to be exploring a move ahead of the close of play.

For whatever reason, it has taken until for several names to emerge as Celtic frantically look for cover at left-back in the final hours of the window.

Football Scotland journalist Mark Hendry has indicated that Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Hugo Bueno had also been a target for the Bhoys. However, is it ‘doubtful’ that his parent club would agree to let him leave Molineux.

Late drama in the transfer market can be anxiety-inducing, though it is probably better than the weeks of muted activity that we have endured in the hunt for additions.

It promises to be an exciting deadline day, and hopefully, Celtic can get a deal or two over the line to boost their Scottish Premiership title hopes.
