The transfer window officially opens tomorrow and Celtic expect movement in both directions in what is set to be a busy month for Brendan Rodgers.

According to reports, Andy Irving is back on the Bhoys’ radar after their initial attempts to land the West Ham United man during the summer transfer window.

Rumours continue to swirl over the potential of Kieran Tierney returning to Celtic, which has, in turn, heightened speculation over Greg Taylor’s future at Parkhead as his contract runs into its final months.

On the same token, Stephen Welsh is attracting loan interest from KV Mechelen and has been given the ‘green light’ to seal a loan move to Belgium.

Now, another Celtic star could be set for a temporary exit as Brendan Rodgers makes room for potential incomings.

Odin Thiago Holm set for Celtic loan exit

According to Sunsport, Celtic are set to offload Odin Thiago Holm in January, and MLS outfit LAFC has emerged as his most likely destination to gain regular minutes.

The Norwegian has been out of the picture for several months, and Steven Cherundolo is on the lookout for players to join up for the start of their campaign in February.

European clubs have also expressed interest in the 21-year-old, and Rodgers is keen for him to gain first-team experience elsewhere after he fell out of favour under the Irishman.

His predicament was compounded by being left out of Celtic’s 25-man Champions League squad. However, he may now have the chance to turn over a new leaf.

Whether it be to offer on-field experience elsewhere or purely to raise market value, offloading fringe stars will be beneficial for Celtic.

Incomings are set to occur next month, but clearing wage expenditure and squad space will allow them the best possible chance to hit the ground running at Parkhead.

Holm has been unfortunate that his career at Celtic has never really got off the ground. Nevertheless, there is no room for sentiment in the hunt for further success.
