There has been a lot of noise as Celtic search for a striker in the January transfer market.
One player who has been doing the rounds at Celtic is West Ham United’s Callum Wilson, after he joined the club in the summer.
But Wilson is set to stay at West Ham, and the Open Goal panel discussed who could be Celtic’s next striker, as they bid to save their season.
That’s when the name of the experienced goalscorer Edin Dzeko was brought up.

Celtic told to sign Edin Dzeko after missing out on Callum Wilson
Dzeko is currently playing for Serie A strugglers Fiorentina, who are just outside of the relegation zone, and also trying to compete in the Europa Conference League.
Tony Watt suggested Celtic ‘overpay’ in wages to get the legendary Manchester City striker to Glasgow because they need ‘at least one big signing’ this month.
“But at least get one big signing in,” insisted Watt. “For me, they need to sign, at least, one permanent player that’s a view to next season.
“There are free agents, like Dzeko. People are saying about Edin Dzeko. Do you just go and overpay for him on wages for six months? I am not saying he will come. But it will save money.
“Do you overpay in wages for Callum Wilson or (Dzeko). Just pay an extra £10,000, 15,000 or 20 grand.”
Dzeko on the move in January…
It seems as though Dzeko, who left Turkish giants Fenerbahçe in the summer, is on the move during the January transfer window.
The 39-year-old is heading to Germany, according to reports, and is set to sign for Schalke.
Journalist Nicolò Schira has claimed on social media that Dzeko, who has scored two goals this term, is heading to Germany in the ‘next 48 hours’, and he will secure a ‘sale’ to the Bundesliga 2 leaders.
Dzeko has only made eight starts this term, but he has had a glittering career, including winning two Premier League titles at Manchester City, where he netted 72 goals in 189 matches.
And only last season, he scored 21 times from 53 matches at Fenerbahçe.
