Celtic told Hibernian fans won’t be happy as a clear Kieron Bowie transfer plea is made

The January transfer window of 2025 has yielded only two new players for Celtic so far.

The first arrived under Wilfred Nancy – Julian Araujo – and the second, a striker for Martin O’Neill – Tomas Cvancara.

Some feel Celtic need to add more goals to their weakened, underwhelming, blunt and much-criticised forward line, even after the arrival of Tomas Cvancara.

Paul Hartley is in that camp, as he discussed Hibernian striker Kieron Bowie moving to Celtic before the winter transfer window slams shut.

Kieron Bowie to Celtic… yes or no?

Hibernian fans won’t be happy with Kieron Bowie’s sale to Celtic

Things aren’t rosy in the Hibs garden. Getting knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Championship side Dunfermline last week, and then getting thrashed by Falkirk in the Premiership on Saturday.

Speaking on The Warm-Up, Hartley put forward Bowie’s name as ‘Celtic’s number one’ transfer target.

Hartley, who has represented Hibernian and Hearts during his career, understands that it would upset those at Easter Road if their main striker were to head for the exit door.

“I think the one that sticks out is Bowie at Hibs,” said Hartley. “Young player. Knows where the goal is.

“I’m not quite sure the Hibs fans will be quite happy with that, but if you look at where Bowie is, at this moment in time, he is a player Celtic should look at.”

Who starts up front for Celtic against Utrecht in the Europa League?

The new kid on the block, Cvancara, showcased positive signs on his debut. It was just unfortunate that Celtic drew 2-2 with Hearts and produced another abject display.

What’s interesting is that O’Neill threw Cvancara straight into the XI, but he won’t be able to play in the Europa League against Utrecht on Thursday because he isn’t registered for the league phase.

So, who starts up front? Shin Yamada also can’t start because he’s in the same boat as Cvancara.

Then you have Daizen Maeda, who is stinking the place out this season, produced another poor performance.
