The upcoming transfer window is going to be an interesting one for Celtic.

Yes, Celtic are on course for the Treble, but performances in 2025 have been a little off-colour, and some fans want changes in the summer.

That doesn’t mean that the powers that be at Celtic Park will sell any important players, but further enhance a squad that is now being stretched.

With the revamped Champions League format – and the club’s progress in Europe this term – more is being asked of the players.

Therefore, it shouldn’t be a surprise that the team is looking off it, and how Celtic react will be a major talking point.

There have been some players, who at the start of the campaign, were attracting huge transfer interest, but their value might have now dipped.

Nicolas Kuhn’s transfer value at Celtic defended

Celtic fans might not like to here, but if those with big pockets knock on the club’s door, then the club have no choice but to open it and listen to offers.

Everyone saw that with Matt O’Riley’s club-record sale in the summer, and a certain Nicolas Kuhn has also been attracting interest this term.

The likes of Newcastle United have been mentioned, with Gordon Dalziel reacting to the claim that Kuhn’s transfer value has dropped from ‘£20 million’ to half of that.

But Dalziel defended Kuhn’s talents and made it clear that it simply wouldn’t be good business if he is sold around the ‘£10 million’ mark, as he told Clyde 1 Superscoreboard.

“I don’t think he (Kuhn) is alone (in not playing well),” said Dalziel. “If you look through the squad.

“For instance, you look at one of my favourite players, who I coached, Alistair Johnston. He has taken some dip as well. No, no (Johnston’s drop-off isn’t as extreme as Kuhn’s). I think Kuhn has set the bar so high.

“We had him, the first part of the season, if he had kept that up, then he would have been Player of the Year, then all of a sudden, Jota has come back into the building and, all of a sudden, Kuhn has taken that dip.

“He still has bags and bags of ability. I don’t think, if you quote this guy, and we aren’t quoting him at £20 million, you can’t just go ‘we will take £10 million for him’. That’s not good business. He cerinly has bags and bags of ability.

“People have got to understand, it’s a long season. A lot of games now. Players take a dip. Players get tired. Players go off the boil.”

Yes, when you look back at recent times, then it’s not good viewing for the man on the right flank, especially when your manager is hooking you off at half-time.

But this is part and parcel of playing for a club like Celtic, and perhaps, he just needs a kick up the backside, a few games on the bench, and then normal service will resume.

When you look at the overall picture, Kuhn has still had an outstanding campaign.
