Maik Nawrocki and Iwata could leave Celtic

Maik Nawrocki could be allowed to leave on loan this transfer deadline day, the same going for midfielder Tomoki Iwata.

Nawrocki and Iwata find themselves way down the pecking order at Celtic and new clubs for both may be a fitting option for all parties concerned.

Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph issued the news via his X account this morning and noted that the arrivals of Arne Engels and Auston Trusty could be deciding factors.

Birmingham City-linked Iwata hasn’t played a single competitive minute for the Hoops so far this season while Polish centre-back Nawrocki is in the same boat.

Trusty deal has hurdles to overcome

Auston Trusty is closing in on a £6m move from Sheffield United to Celtic after the fee was accepted by the EFL Championship side.

Personal terms have also been agreed with Trusty set to sign a five-year contract. But there are issues yet to overcome before the deadline tonight.

It’s being reported by the Daily Record that there will be a late rush in securing a visa for Trusty. The hope is that it can be fast-tracked and the transfer goes through successfully.

Engels Celtic medical booked

Arne Engels has agreed a four-year deal with Celtic from Augsburg and the midfielder will complete his medical today, according to Sky Sports.

Brendan Rodgers is desperate to land the Belgian midfielder, so much so that the Hoops are set to break their incoming transfer record.

Celtic will pay Augsburg around £11m for Engels and the Bundesliga side will allegedly receive 20% of any future sale for the player.

Mahamadou Diawara bid rejected

Celtic are focusing on signing midfielders this deadline day with Engels certainly one who will come through the front doors at Parkhead.

The club have also been trying to sign Lyon midfielder Mahamadou Diawara on loan with an option to buy for around €8 million.

But that offer has been rejected by the French giants according to journalist Santi Auona on his X account.

It comes after Celtic pulled out of the running to secure midfielder Alvyn Sanches who plies his trade with Lausanne Sport in Switzerland.
