Second offer for Arne Engels submitted
Brendan Rodgers is extremely keen to land Augsburg midfielder Arne Engels and that is exemplified by Celtic’s latest offer for him.
The Hoops, according to Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph, had an opening bid of £6.5m rejected by the German side – but now a second offer worth £9m is about to be made.
Joseph reports that Augsburg are not going to make it easy for Celtic to buy but talks are set to ‘continue’.
Celtic make ‘formal bid’ for Mateusz Bogusz
Celtic have entered into transfer negotiations with LAFC for midfielder Mateusz Bogusz after launching a ‘formal bid’ for the player.
That’s according to Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph, with the Hoops aiming to secure a replacement for Matt O’Riley before the window closes on Friday.
LAFC are said to be seeking around £8m for their 23-year-old star who has racked up 36 goal contributions in 76 games for the MLS charges.
It is unknown how much the bid is worth but expect Celtic to pursue this one over the coming days.

Auston Trusty latest as Celtic ‘launch’ £5m swoop
Celtic have reportedly stepped up their efforts to sign Sheffield United defender Auston Trusty.
Formerly a Rangers transfer target, the Daily Record are reporting that the Hoops made lodged a bid worth £5m to test the Bramall Lane side’s resolve.
However, the EFL Championship outfit – who were relegated from the Premier League last season – are allegedly reluctant to part ways with the 26-year-old American international.
The report adds that Celtic are ‘pushing hard’ to get their man before Friday’s deadline.
Mikey Johnston to Sheffield United ‘agreed’
Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph is also keeping track of Mikey Johnston’s transfer situation this summer window.
And the reporter claims the Celtic winger is set to make a £2.5m switch to Sheffield United after the fee was ‘agreed’ between the two clubs.
Joseph adds that the deal could make things easier for the Bhoys in their pursuit for central defender Auston Trusty.
Johnston enjoyed a successful loan spell down south last season with West Bromwich Albion but Celtic have been open to offers all summer for the 25-year-old.

Gustaf Lagerbielke joins FC Twente on loan
Celtic’s Swedish defender Gustaf Lagerbielke signed for £3m last summer but his time in Glasgow has not gone to plan at all.
The 24-year-old former Elfsborg man wasn’t fancied by Brendan Rodgers and made just seven Scottish Premiership appearances last season.
After failing to secure a loan out of Celtic in January, Lagerbielke has finally found a new home – for now at least. He’ll ply his trade with Dutch charges FC Twente for the rest of the 2024/25 campaign.
