Louis Munteanu could leave Cluj following pay dispute
Louis Munteanu looks like he may be on the move in the summer after it emerged that an ongoing pay dispute was the reason for his absence in Cluj’s Europa League defeat to Braga.
Cluj boss Dan Petrescu claimed he missed the game through injury but it was revealed by Romanian Sports outlet IAM Sport that a disagreement with the side was the real reason why Munteanu was missing from Thursday’s game.
Celtic had a £6.9m bid rejected for Munteanu earlier in the window. Could we see the Hoops go back in for him?
Sondre Orjasaeter snubbed Celtic for FC Twente transfer
Celtic missed out on another transfer target after Sondre Orjasaeter joined FC Twente for £6.5m over the weekend.
Orjasaeter turned down Celtic’s advances in January and there was widespread belief that Brendan Rodgers wasn’t back in for him this summer.
However, FC Twente’s transfer chief Jan Streuer said Orjasaeter rejected the Hoops for the Eredivisie giants.
“He definitely had more options. Celtic, for example, also wanted him; he’s been there,” he said.
“He could have gone to other countries, but he really wanted to go to the Netherlands.
“In my opinion, that’s also a great step for a young player’s development.”
Lee Hendrie says Celtic should’ve signed Richard Kone
Everyone knows a striker is on Celtic’s shopping list and that they are working hard to bolster their attacking options.
It explains the links to Munteanu but according to Sky Sports pundit Lee Hendrie, Celtic will regret not signing Richard Kone, who recently joined English second tier club, QPR.
Hendrie said: “I think to be quite honest yes, they will regret it. I think Leicester have a bit more strength, but QPR have a younger squad and he’ll probably get more game time there than at Celtic or Leicester and that might have been an important part of the decision.
“Between them and Swansea, it would have been between those two.”
