Celtic are still on the lookout for a new striker.

Kyogo was sold in January and Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers did not replace the Japanese forward for the rest of last season.

Callum Osmand has been signed from Fulham this summer, while the Bhoys still have Adam Idah and Johnny Kenny in their ranks.

Giuseppe Ambrosino is now on Celtic’s transfer radar and it is understood the Hoops want to sign the Napoli youngster on loan with the option to buy.

Cremonese directly address Celtic-linked Ambrosino

But they have competition as Serie A duo Cremonese and Cagliari are also interested in recruiting Ambrosino this summer, with the former lodging a €3m bid.

Now, Cremonese’s sporting director Simone Giacchetta has spoken to an Italian radio station and effectively confirmed the club’s pursuit of Ambrosino.

Speaking on Radio Marte, Giacchetta said: “Do we want to build a strong team to stay in Serie A? Yes, our goal is clear: we want to fight until the end for survival.

“Could Giuseppe Ambrosino be a good addition to our squad? We’re interested in many young players, and Ambrosino certainly deserves close attention. While he’s not yet a top goalscorer, he’s shown some interesting qualities.

“Have we already explored Napoli’s willingness to sell? In this transfer window, we talk to all the teams you think might have something useful.

“We’re a newly promoted team and we’re comparing ourselves with those who are bigger and better than us. Do we also like Alessio Zerbin, Walid Cheddira and Alessandro Zanoli?

“Napoli has a lot of players, and we have to cover different positions. We’ll be talking to various clubs, and Napoli has a lot of good players who, in my opinion, could be of interest to numerous teams.”

Bojan Miovski is also being linked with Celtic

Ambrosino seems to be Celtic’s main striker target at the moment, but former Aberdeen striker Bojan Miovski is another being linked.

Spanish publication AS are writing that the Hoops remain interested in Miovski, who endured a tough debut season with Girona.

Miovski was sold to Girona for £6.8m last summer after scoring a fantastic 44 goals in 97 games for the Pittodrie side.

Rangers are said to be monitoring Miovski’s situation, with German teams Freiburg and Hamburg also reportedly in the mix.
