Kyogo has trained with Birmingham City for the first time since his transfer.
The Celtic hero left Stade Rennais for the EFL Championship club for a fee of £10m, the same figure he left Parkhead for in January.
Kyogo endured a nightmare few months at the Ligue 1 club. The manager who signed him, Jorge Sampaoli, was sacked days later, and new boss Habib Beye wasn’t a fan.
Kyogo played just six times without scoring and was transfer listed by Rennes after the conclusion of the 2024/25 season.

Kyogo trains with new Birmingham teammates in Portugal
The 30-year-old striker now has the chance to rediscover his mojo, or more importantly for Birmingham, his scoring touch.
Kyogo flew to the Algarve in Portugal on Tuesday night and took part in his first training session with his new teammates on Wednesday.
Birmingham published a highlights reel of Kyogo’s first session which shows the Japanese striker scoring plenty of goals during the drills.
Birmingham uploaded the video titled: “Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve got ourselves a baller… 😮💨”.
Kyogo signed a three-year deal with Birmingham, who won the EFL League One title last campaign by a mammoth 19 points. He is their joint most expensive signing of all time.
Kyogo does not regret Stade Rennais move
Despite the hardship Kyogo faced at Rennes, he explained to Birmingham’s club media that he does not regret making the move there.
Of course, that’s understandable given he had no idea that Sampaoli was about to be sacked as the club’s manager just days later.
Kyogo revealed: “It was a difficult time for me. But I don’t have regrets going there. I have gained some experience, so I would like to use that here (at Birmingham).”
Birmingham described Kyogo’s first day of training on their official website, writing: “After a double training session on their first full day on Tuesday (July 8), the players were back out on the grass on Wednesday morning as training stepped up a gear.
“The session also saw Kyogo Furuhashi join up with his new team-mates following his recent move from Rennes.
“After a gruelling session on the grass and time spent in the gym, the players enjoyed some downtime in the afternoon with several Blues stars heading out onto the golf course.”
