Celtic transfer target suffers horror injury as January signing plan shelved

Celtic will have to look elsewhere this transfer window after a main target was injured in action last night.

Brendan Rodgers wants attackers in January with the Celtic manager hopeful of adding two wingers and a striker with options on the recruitment staff’s shortlist.

One such option is a Spanish wide player from Real Valladolid in the form of Raul Moro.

Celts were linked with Moro earlier this week with the £8.5million-rated 21-year-old being touted as a consideration for Rodgers and his staff led by Paul Tisdale as head of football operations.

Celtic target Raul Moro suffered a suspected broken collarbone

Now, though, Moro’s chances of making what would be a significant career move to Parkhead this window have been scuppered following a horror injury in last night’s clash with Espanyol.

Footage was shown from the game on X and it was claimed Moro had suffered what appeared to be a fractured collarbone.

He was then stretchered off the pitch.

That could possibly keep him sidelined for between two to three months, ending any link with Celts this window, for sure.

Moro has also been linked with Ajax this month but any exit would be highly unlikely now as he bids to recover from his injury.

It was claimed Valladolid were “aware” of Celtic’s interest but that no official approach or bid had yet been made for the playmaker.

What Raul Moro’s Valladolid future looks like

Valladolid currently sit 19th in La Liga and that could also have a major bearing on Moro’s future.

It is unlikely the player would appreciate dropping into the second tier of Spanish football and that could force the club’s hand if they are to cash-in on one of their standout stars.

Moro has hit four goals and provided two assists this season from 20 outings and will be a big miss for the side through his injury problem.

It means Celtic will have to look elsewhere for January acquisitions having been linked with Michel-Ange Balikwisha and others this month.
