The Celtic board are showing serious ambition and backing for Ange Postecoglou this summer, perhaps even at a level never seen before.

In fact, before the week is out and certainly before pre-season really ramps up next week, the club will have spent over £15m in the transfer window.

New signing Alexandro Bernabei is said to have signed from Argentinian top-flight club Lanus for a fee of £3.75m. [Sky Sports]

That’s added to the initial £6m the club are reported to have paid for Cameron Carter-Vickers, from Tottenham Hotspur.

Then we have Jota, who is back in Glasgow this week to finalise a £6.4m permanent switch from Portuguese giants Benfica.

These three players alone take the spend well over £15m, with Celtic also adding Ben Siegrist to the ranks as a free transfer and paying up on the compulsory deal for Daizen Maeda, who had technically joined on loan in January.

When you consider that the bulk of the squad isn’t even training properly in pre-season yet, it’s remarkably quick movement from the Bhoys.

The most work will be done next week in Austria, with friendlies to follow throughout July and no competitive action until the final day of the month.

This time last year, Celtic didn’t manage to bring in any real first-team quality until mid-July when Liel Abada came in to kickstart the rebuild.

The preparation this summer is completely different and you have to credit multiple people at the club, not just Postecoglou.

It seems many people are working harder than ever to put the pieces together for Celtic success.

It’s doubtful Celtic will stop here either with a defensive midfielder, defender and striker all said to be on the wishlist of the manager.

What a time!
