Celtic have one striker through the door, but what if they wanted two?
Tomas Cvancara joined on loan and is expected to be thrown in at the deep end with a start on his debut against Hearts.
Everything moved relatively quickly from the first reports of Celtic’s interest to when Cvancara signed on the dotted line in order to ensure he was available.
He was one of many strikers courted by the Hoops and there may even be scope for another to come in.
However, one possible option for that looks unlikely after suffering an injury.
Poll: Which position do Celtic need to strengthen in the 2026 January transfer window?
Mohamed Bamba ruled out for Lorient through injury
Before Cvancara, Mohamed Bamba was the initial striker linked with a move to Glasgow.
There were concerns about Bamba’s attitude after he was dropped from the Lorient squad for disciplinary reasons and interest has since cooled off.
Now it looks like the move is off the table entirely after manager Olivier Pantaloni revealed that an injury setback would leave him out for an unknown period of time.
He said: Mo suffered a knee injury. He received treatment yesterday. He was feeling better, but we preferred to keep him with the physiotherapist in the gym. We do not have more on his fitness.”

Celtic should move on to other targets
Bamba’s injury won’t derail Celtic’s transfer plans and confirms that other targets should be pursued instead.
The Hoops still need a centre-back and right-winger at a minimum before the window closes.
How much of a priority is a right-winger for Celtic in January?
A central midfielder would also not go amiss if the right candidate comes up. Celtic need a big end to the window. Let’s hope they provide it.
