Celtic’s hunt to find a new striker has taken them to France and Lorient for Mohamed Bamba.
The Hoops need a number nine desperately as their options are limited to Johnny Kenny as the only recognised forward right now.
Goals have been hard to come by this season, although Celtic did stick four past Dundee United at the weekend.
Bamba is reportedly in talks with Celtic over a loan with an option to buy, but there are concerns over his attitude after he was dropped from Lorient’s squad for their French Cup tie at the weekend.
While a striker is exactly what Martin O’Neill’s side need, Bamba isn’t the answer.
Name three players you would sell in the current Celtic side
Mohamed Bamba’s Lorient record doesn’t scream goal scorer
Across his career, the 24-year-old has been relatively prolific in front of goal and scored 53 times in 169 appearances.
However, this season has been disappointing to say the least as he has only managed to score three from 16 appearances.
Benjamin Nygren, a midfielder, has more goals than Bamba and injury-prone Kelechi Iheanacho has the same amount too.
Numbers like that don’t bode well for the Hoops, and his disciplinary issues away from the pitch leave a lot to be desired.

If Celtic avoided Louis Munteanu, they should avoid Bamba too
What Celtic need more than ever is good characters who will harmonise the dressing room.
It may be one of the reasons why Louis Munteanu was dropped from their list of targets after he refused to play for CFR Cluj in order to get his move away.
You have one Celtic wish that can be granted in 2026. What would it be and why?
Munteanu ended up signing for D.C United instead and is a bullet dodged.
Maybe Bamba would change his ways but while O’Neill is beginning to piece the dressing room back together after the Wilfried Nancy shambles, risking a transfer like that doesn’t seem wise.
