Read MoreConfirmed: Karamoko Dembele signs for new club after leaving Celtic
Karamoko Dembele has completed his move to Ligue 1 side Stade Brestois 29 after leaving Celtic this summer.
The 19-year-old has had a long association with the Bhoys having been on the books of the academy for almost a decade.
However, his contract expired at the end of last season with no agreement on an extension reached. He’s now had a move to France confirmed this afternoon after an announcement on Brest’s website.
This won’t come as much of a surprise to some. As we discussed on Friday, it was a move reported as destined to happen in the local French press.
Dembele has long been a hyped talent in Scotland. He made global headlines back in 2016 after making an appearance for Celtic’s U20s development side at the age of just 13.
He signed his first professional terms in December 2018 and made his debut at the end of that season in May 2019 against Hearts.
However, he struggled for first-team minutes beyond that and made just ten substitute appearances prior to his departure.
That was partly due to injury issues too. The youngster broke his ankle in the 2021 pre-season, just when it looked like Ange Postecoglou would be the manager to finally make the most use of him.
Ultimately we wish the young winger all the best in the next stage of his career and hope he can find the regular football he needs to progress.
Good luck Karamoko!
