Celtic’s pursuit of Camilo Duran has taken a twist after two conflicting reports emerged within an hour of each other regarding the Colombian striker’s future.

Duran caught Celtic’s attention back in June as Martin O’Neill looks to bolster his forward line for next season.

However, Qarabag boss Gurban Gurbanov addressed the speculation surrounding Duran’s future saying a summer exit was ‘possible’.

But confusion now reigns as reports from Glasgow and Azerbaijan contradict what is actually going on with Celtic and the Qarabag striker.

Fresh Duran update paints confusing Celtic picture

A report from Azerbaijan outlet OffsidePlus claimed Qarabag rejected Celtic’s €2 million bid, with head coach Gurban Gurbanov and the club’s hierarchy unwilling to sanction a deal at that price.

According to Offsideplus, Qarabag are not backing down despite Celtic’s interest.

Just an hour later, however, a fresh report from The Celtic Way claimed the Hoops had made progress in negotiations and were edging closer to an agreement worth around £2.5 million.

Whether the reports relate to different stages of negotiations or conflicting information from separate sources remains unclear.

For now, as things stand now, it is not exactly clear at what stage the talks between Celtic and Qarabag are.

What is clear is that Duran remains firmly on Celtic’s radar, with the Colombian striker continuing to be linked with a move to Parkhead as O’Neill looks to strengthen the squad this summer.
