Celtic are about to conclude a deal on transfer deadline day as Jeffrey Schlupp will sign on the dotted line from Crystal Palace.
Before the day started, the Celtic fans were expecting a fair few names to enter the building because Brendan Rodgers’ squad had become weaker.
That came after Kyogo Furuhashi left for Rennes and Alex Valle’s loan was cut short because Kieran Tierney was returning to his boyhood club.
The issue with that is Tierney won’t join until the summer when his Arsenal contract expires, so it has left Rodgers short in the left-back area.
Greg Taylor is the starting left-back, but he now has someone to push him for minutes.
What type of deal are Celtic getting with Jeffrey Schlupp?

It’s pretty clear that this deal for Schlupp is a short-term option and he comes in to cover before Tierney arrives.
Fabrizio Romano has shared on social media that it is a ‘straight loan’ for the player and there is ‘no buy option’ in the deal.
So, it’s probably up to Schlupp himself to prove his worth and earn a permanent deal if he wants to play for Celtic beyond this season.
Crystal Palace fans react as Schlupp closes in on Celtic move
Schlupp joined Crystal Palace in 2017 and he has gone on to make 247 appearances for the London club after winning the Premier League title with Leicester City the year before.
That will forever be his greatest achievement because of how the odds were stacked against the player and his Leicester side, at the time.
There are some Crystal Palace fans who are shocked that Schlupp will go from struggling to play for them to possibly lining up against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
But others wanted to show the player some respect and how, on his day, he has proven to be an outstanding player for the club.
‘Jeffrey Schlupp in his prime for us was different gravy,’ wrote @Luke_Seychell.
But not all Palace fans were sure, as @CPFC_GEO wrote: ‘The idea of Jeffrey Schlupp playing against Bayern Munich in the Champions League is killing me’.
And that theme continued…
Of course, Schlupp will join Celtic to add more titles to his name, as @CPFC_GH wrote: ‘Jeff Schlupp gonna have two career titles to his name, wtf’.
@CPFCmollett wrote: ‘Good luck to Schlupp at Celtic, he’s been one of my favourite players over the years. Only really the last year or so he’s been on the decline. I’ll have to pick a new player to name my FPL team after! It’s been a tradition since he signed!’
