Celtic fans have got their wish with Kieran Tierney.
The Arsenal left-back will don the colours of his boyhood club again after signing a pre-contract agreement ahead of the summer transfer window.
But the Celtic faithful want to know about the present and whether or not they can secure his talents before Monday’s 11pm deadline.
Greg Taylor is Celtic’s starting left-back, but he is now the only recognised player for that position, even though Liam Scales can shift towards that role if need be.
This comes after Celtic cut short Alex Valle’s loan spell from Barcelona, so ahead of some big games, this isn’t an ideal situation.
Scott Allan debunks Kieran Tierney and Celtic suggestion
After Celtic’s showing against Aston Villa, there are some fans on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard calling for Tierney to come in right now.
It was even suggested by one fan that Rodgers should use the hard-hitting defender as a midfielder given the defensive fragilities showcased at Villa Park.
But former midfielder Scott Allan shut all of that down and stated that it ‘goes against everything’ Rodgers stands for.

“No, it just goes against everything and the way Brendan Rodgers plays,” said Allan. “Celtic work off a system, in a structure, players who play in there need to receive the ball in a certain type of way to then get the better players, who are forward up the pitch, into attacking areas.
“That’s how Celtic play. That’s how Brendan Rodgers plays. You have played left-back and centre-back your whole career. All the way through the academy, at Celtic, Arsenal and Real Sociedad. You can’t just then go into midfield and think your 360 vision and start receiving the ball the same way these midfielders have played their whole careers. It just doesn’t happen, whether you can put in a tackle or not.”
Have Celtic found a short-term replacement for Tierney?
Celtic would have shot themselves in the foot if they allowed Taylor to be the only left-back on the books, especially given the noise around him this season.
But, it seems as though the powers that be have acted by bringing in Jeffrey Schlupp from Crystal Palace.
The 32-year-old isn’t an out-and-out left-back, but he can deploy that role, as well as playing in midfield and out wide, so expect Rodgers to use him from the bench quite a lot.
Either way, you can learn everything about Schlupp and his career path, as he will soon don the Celtic colours.
