A host of strikers were on Celtic’s transfer radar in January.

Tomas Cvancara signed earlier in the month, and there is the expectation that Celtic will add more firepower to their squad before the Monday evening deadline.

But David Datro Fofana won’t be a Celtic player, despite links with the Chelsea striker stemming back from the summer.

Fofana was recalled from his loan spell in Turkey, where he spent six months at Fatih Karagumruk S.K., and now he is heading to France.

Celtic transfer target David Datro Fofana joins RC Strasbourg

RC Strasbourg have links to Chelsea, with their owners being the BlueCo ownership, led by Todd Boehly.

Therefore, it isn’t a surprise that the London club have used that road to ship out one of their players because they have done it before.

It’s going to be interesting to see how Fofana performs for the Ligue 1 side, who are managed by former Wolves coach Gary O’Neill, and are one of the favourites to win the Europa Conference League.

Nonetheless, this is what transfer expert Fabrizio Romano had to say on social media about Fofana’s move to Strasbourg.

‘David Datro Fofana to RC Strasbourg, here we go,’ wrote Romano.

‘Deal done with documents approved. Despite interest from another French club and Mallorca, Datro Fofana leaves Chelsea on loan to join Strasbourg immediately. Key to help cover Emegha’s absence for next few weeks.’
