Departed Celtic star told he’s a ‘fantastic reference for our younger players’ as he finds a new club

A lot of talk this summer has been about who Celtic have brought into the club.

In total, seven players have been signed during the 2025 summer transfer window, including the return of Kieran Tierney.

But 12 players have also headed in the other direction, which included Greg Taylor, as well as Celtic opting against bringing back Jeffrey Schlupp.

Even though the champions of Scotland are looking for someone to challenge Tierney, the powers that be didn’t push the button to re-sign Schlupp after his contract at Crystal Palace expired at the end of June.

Celtic title-winner Jeffrey Schlupp praised at Norwich City

As per, if you come to Celtic, then you are almost guaranteed trophies, and Schlupp got just that in the famous green and white colours.

But now, the next chapter of the 32-year-old’s career takes him to England’s second-tier and playing for promotion-chasing Norwich City.

After Schlupp’s move to Carrow Road was confirmed, he was lauded and applauded by the club’s Sporting Director, Ben Knapper.

“Jeffrey’s career so far speaks for itself, and we’re delighted to welcome him and his family to Norwich City,” said Sporting Director Knapper.

“He is a player of immense experience, having played at the highest levels both domestically and internationally for many years. His quality, versatility and character will all be great assets for us, and he will serve as a fantastic reference point for our younger players, in particular this season.

“He will provide competition and depth across multiple positions, and we’re all really happy to have him as part of the group for the coming season.”

Schlupp’s stats at Celtic

It was a short stay for Schlupp, but one where he can still say that he represented Scotland’s most successful club and also won a trophy.

It didn’t take the former Leicester City man too long to find his way into Brendan Rodgers’ XI, including starting in Munich against Bayern in the Champions League.

But, in the final weeks of the season, Greg Taylor won his place back, and Schlupp was on the bench, which is probably why Celtic didn’t sign him permanently.
