It’s not the transfer deadline day that many Celtic fans would have wanted.
On the pitch, everything is going swimmingly well for Brendan Rodgers because there is a healthy lead at the top of the Premiership table, the League Cup is in hand and Celtic are on course to defend the Scottish Cup.
Rodgers has won the Treble before and there is no reason why it can’t happen again.
Then, you factor in Celtic’s progression in the Champions League and those two huge games against Bayern Munich coming up this month.
From that perspective, you would have hoped that the Celtic board would further boost the squad, and be even more determined to do so once the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi left and Alex Valle’s loan was cut short.
But, with the 11pm transfer deadline looming on Monday evening, that doesn’t seem to be the case, as you can now rule out one left-back coming in to help out Greg Taylor.
Celtic’s left-back options ahead of Kieran Tierney re-joining

Kieran Tierney is returning to Celtic, but it won’t be until the summer, so for now, you can’t have Taylor as the only option at left-back.
Especially when you had Valle on board, a young player showing promise and then you allowed him to return to Barcelona.
That’s why various short-term options were flying around, including Celtic possibly signing Tyrell Malacia from Manchester United.
Tyrell Malacia to join PSV from Manchester United after Celtic links
But it seems as though Celtic won’t be signing Malacia because he is heading to Holland to join PSV Eindhoven.
They are sitting top of the Eredivisie and Malacia will be returning to his home country, according to Dutch journalist, Joost Blaauwhof
‘Tyrell Malacia is set to become PSV’s new left-back,’ reported Blaauwhof on VI.
‘The twelve-time Oranje international was close to a transfer to Benfica last weekend. However, that deal collapsed at the very last moment. Manchester United ultimately failed to reach an agreement with the Portuguese top club.
‘That was a big blow for Malacia, but then PSV suddenly showed up. For the Eindhoven team, the Rotterdammer was always the first choice, according to well-informed sources, and now Malacia is actually on his way to becoming national champions’.
