There has been a lot of change at left-back for Celtic this summer.
Kieran Tierney’s return was very popular, and he is now seen as the starting left-back under Brendan Rodgers ahead of the new campaign.
But who is going to cover or compete with Tierney, especially given that the returning Celtic hero doesn’t exactly have the best injury record?
Greg Taylor is out of the door, and he has decided to sign for Greek side PAOK after his contract at Celtic expired.
And Taylor’s possible replacement could be in Belgium.

Cercle Brugge could lose Flàvio Nazinho to Celtic
The man who could replace Taylor at Celtic is Cercle Brugge defender Flàvio Nazinho.
It has been reported by Belgian outlet HLN that Cercle Brugge are ‘in danger of losing’ Nazinho, as the champions of Scotland circle for his signature.
The report claims that Nazinho is ‘high on Celtic’s wish list’ after he produced an ‘excellent’ performance for Portugal at the U21 European Championships this summer.
It notes Taylor’s exit from Celtic and how Rodgers sees Nazinho as his replacement and a ‘back-up’ option for Tierney.
Is Greg Taylor’s replacement closer to home?
Given Tierney’s experience and age, Celtic could then bring in a much younger player at left-back and use him as a back-up option.
Of course, Celtic had Alex Valle last season, but the club opted to cut his loan short in January, and he has since secured a permanent transfer to Como from Barcelona.
That was clearly a mistake on Celtic’s part, but if another left-back doesn’t sign this summer, then two names currently in the building who could cover Tierney:
- Liam Scales
- Hayato Inamura
