Martin O’Neill has openly stated that he wants new signings in before Celtic play Hearts at the weekend.
Celtic have toiled in the January transfer market, without any success, but you just wonder if they have finally found a passage with David Datro Fofana.
Fofana was linked with Celtic in the summer, but the Chelsea forward ended up securing a move to Turkey and Fatih Karagümrük.
But on Monday morning, Fabrizio Romano delivered a significant update on the Ivory Coast star, as clubs like Celtic circle for his signature.

Is David Datro Fofana the answer to Celtic’s striker problem? Let us know in the comments below.

Chelsea recall Celtic transfer target David Datro Fofana from Fatih Karagümrük loan spell
The first key step has been taken because Fofana has returned from his loan spell in Turkey, and another move is on the cards.
Romano confirmed that Chelsea have recalled their in-demand striker, as this is surely a boost to Celtic’s chances of landing his signature, amid their interest in his services.
What’s interesting about what Romano has had to say is that Chelsea are ‘working on a permanent exit’ for their player.
‘Chelsea recall David Datro Fofana from loan, as he’s set for a new move in the upcoming days/weeks,’ wrote Romano on social media.
‘#CFC and Fofana’s camp working on a permanent exit.’

Fofana scores again…
But whilst the likes of Celtic circle around Fofana’s signature, the man himself continues to produce and score goals for Fatih Karagümrük.
On Saturday, Fofana found the back of the net as struggling Karagümrük, who are bottom of the Süper Lig and seven points adrift of safety, were beaten by Basaksehir.
It was the Celtic transfer target’s sixth league strike of the campaign.
- Fofana’s games this season: 15
- Starts: 11
- Goals: 8
- Assists: 0
- Total minutes: 1,062
