Fabrizio Romano says "done deal" on Christopher Jullien Celtic exit; medical underway

Christopher Jullien is undergoing a Celtic medical at Schalke ahead of completing an exit from the Bhoys.

As we’ve been discussing on the site today, the player flew to Germany last night to take part in talks with the German club.

It’s now all progressing rather quickly with Romano stating the deal is done and that the Frenchman is currently undergoing a medical.

Jullien has had ups and downs at Celtic since being signed by Neil Lennon in the summer of 2019. He won a treble of trophies with the club across a Covid-disrupted season.

That won’t be forgotten, especially since he was instrumental and even scored a winning goal in the Scottish League Cup final against Rangers.

His injury-plagued 2021 was a real disappointment for everyone.

Colliding with the post against Dundee United effectively ended his Celtic career, with new manager Ange Postecoglou moving on to other options by the time he recovered to full fitness.

This move to Schalke is the best thing for all parties and Jullien should go with our best wishes. Hopefully he manages to find the regular football he craves in Germany.

For Celtic, it’s an opportunity to get more wages off the books in an effort to free up more incoming transfers in a number of priority positions.

Jullien’s exit makes the centre-back area one of those and hopefully we hear about who the club is lining up over the coming days.

The Bhoys have been linked with players such as Ko Itakura and Taylor Harwood-Bellis over the last few weeks, but reports have gone quiet in that regard.

In the meantime, our best wishes to Christopher!

In other news, Media insistent on Jota and Bernabei despite the continued Celtic wait.
