Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Steven Gerrard is set to add former Celtic defender, Jack Hendry, as his next summer signing at his new club Al Ettifaq.
Hendry has struggled to make an impact at the Belgian club since his £6m move from KV Oostende in 2021 [The Guardian] and it seems, now, that he will be the next former Celt to make a big money move to the Saudi Pro League.
Hendry will become the second ex-Celtic star to join Gerrard after 67 Hail Hail discussed last week that Moussa Dembele was approached to join him at Al Ettifaq.
Indeed, it seems that Dembele’s move made a big step closer to becoming finalised after it was reported that an initial agreement on personal terms was reached yesterday.
Romano tweeted, “Al Ettifaq are set to sign Jack Hendry on a permanent deal from Club Brugge. He’ll join Steven Gerrard team after medical this week.

“◉ Jordan Henderson deal to be signed this new week. ◉ Moussa Dembélé set to join as free agent very soon. ◉ Hendry will be third signing.”
Although the finer details of his contract are not known, we can all assume that Hendry is likely to incur a hefty wage rise as the Saudi league continues to raid Europe for some of its best talents in a bid to boost the quality of the league.
Many would argue that the move to take Hendry to the Saudi league is a surprising one. Especially when you look at the calibre of player that has already been snapped up.

But, to be fair to Hendry, he does have experience winning trophies at Celtic under Brendan Rodgers, is also a Belgian champion and has vital European experience in the Champions League and Europa League that he gained at Celtic and Club Brugge.
Hendry’s move to Al Ettifaq signals another chapter in what has turned out to be a journeyman career for the 28-year-old Scotland defender.
The Saudi club will be Hendry’s twelfth in his career, sixth after signing for Celtic, as he bids to write another chapter in what has been an eventful career for the former Celtic defender so far.
