Four potential transfer deadline day deals Celtic should sanction today

Celtic have a massive day ahead of them.

From now until 7pm tonight, the Hoops must sign a quality striker and another winger to satisfy the requirements of Brendan Rodgers.

Failure to do so and Celtic’s upcoming Europa League campaign could be a lot more difficult than it should be.

The Hoops will be confident on a domestic front, but would they have the strength in depth to seriously challenge for all three major Scottish trophies without those two key signings?

67 Hail Hail look at the four players that could join and exit Celtic before this evening’s deadline.

Kasper Dolberg

Adam Idah to Swansea City is effectively done, with the Hoops set to recoup the majority of the fee they paid Norwich City last season.

But Celtic will not sanction the transfer until they can sign a striker to replace the Irishman.

The plan is to recruit Anderlecht and Denmark forward Kasper Dolberg, but the negotiations haven’t been plain sailing so far.

Celtic’s initial offer was deemed ‘insufficient’ by Anderlecht, while they still need to come to an agreement with Dolberg’s representatives over wages.

Moreover, Borussia Monchengladbach have entered the race to sign the 27-year-old, so the Bhoys have plenty of work to do.

Sebastian Tounekti

Is this one really over?

Celtic want to sign Tunisian winger Sebastian Tounekti from Swedish side Hammarby, but two bids have so far been rejected.

The first was a £2.6m offer and the second a total package of £4.7m for the 23-year-old. However, Hammarby are demanding around £6.25m for their star man.

Hammarby sporting director Mikael Hjelmberg said at the weekend that his club does not plan to sell Tounekti in this transfer window.

But will the Swedes buckle if Celtic match their valuation for the wide man?

Adam Idah & Yang Hyun-jun

In terms of outgoings, the two most likely to leave Celtic are Adam Idah and winger Yang Hyun-jun.

Idah will sign for Swansea in a £7m deal, but as mentioned, he will only leave if Celtic can sign Dolberg or another striker today.

Meanwhile, Birmingham City are interested in signing Yang. They submitted a £1.5m transfer bid on Friday, and Celtic are said to be considering the offer.

Celtic would make a loss of £600k on the player if they took £1.5m.
