Celtic full-back Greg Taylor’s uncertain contract situation has become a major talking point among supporters in recent months.

Available for free in the summer, Brendan Rodgers wants the Scotland international to sign fresh terms with the Bhoys as he moves into his sixth year as part of the Parkhead fabric.

Complicating matters, Celtic are negotiating a pre-contract for Kieran Tierney and there is a chance he could arrive this month if the Bhoys are able to thrash out terms with Arsenal regarding a loan deal.

Painting a candid picture, Tierney’s notoriety and reputation would likely catapult him into the first-choice left-back berth without any pushback from supporters.

While he could arrive on a deal worth £35,000 per week, Taylor wants a sum of £25,000 every seven days to commit at Celtic.

Now, there has been another twist in the ongoing predicament that could help to break the deadlock sooner rather than later.

Greg Taylor open to moving Stateside amid MLS interest

According to Sunsport, Taylor is wanted by several Major League Soccer clubs. Crucially, he is ‘open’ to moving Stateside to start a new career chapter.

Tierney’s impending arrival would push the Scotland defender down the pecking order, and he may now have a decision to make depending on proposals that come forward.

Dinamo Zagreb have also shown interest in Taylor as his lucrative status as a potential free agent begins to alert clubs from far and wide.

Winning ten trophies during his time at Celtic, the Greenock-born man has registered nine goals and 30 assists in 200 appearances.

Celtic fans need clarity on Greg Taylor situation

While his situation hangs in the balance, it is becoming more apparent that an exit could be the most realistic option at this point for Taylor.

Clearly, he is in a position where this may be his last big contract in football. He also has a young family to think about; nobody can blame him for considering his options.

However, the longer his situation drags on, the more frustrated supporters will become. It would be nice to have some clarity so everyone involved can move forward accordingly.
