Former France international Gregory Coupet has given Daizen Maeda the perfect reason to turn down interest from Fenerbahce to stay at Celtic.
Maeda has been linked with Fenerbahce and it seems that the Turkish giants will be willing to test the Hoops’ resolve this summer.
There have already been hints from the striker that his days at Parkhead are numbered after Maeda refused to rule out a Celtic exit this summer.
Now that the summer transfer window is open and temptation is there, Coupet’s admission may give Celtic’s player of the season food for thought.

During an interview with L’Equipe, the former Lyon goalkeeper admitted that Celtic Park is the best ground he has ever played at, pipping Fenerbahce, who he ranked second.
Coupet said: “I put Celtic above all because there is a cathedral effect, magnificent chants, no animosity. It’s magical.
” I put Fenerbahce [second] because I don’t know if it’s still the case, but at the time, the kop was across the entire width, not behind the goals. And they had big drums, really warlike chants, extraordinary.”
The goalkeeper isn’t the first big star to wax lyrical about his experience in Glasgow, with Adrien Rabiot praising the Parkhead atmosphere, as well as two-time Champions League winner Luis Enrique.

There is every chance that the Hoops could fetch big bucks for the 33-goal striker if they do decide to part ways with Maeda this summer.
As it stands, the current record sale for Celtic is Matt O’Riley’s move to Brighton & Hove Albion which saw the Hoops pocket £26m, with the potential for it to rise to £30m.
