New Celtic signing, Gustaf Lagerbielke has revealed the timeline of when he first heard about his new club’s interest in him.
The Swedish defender joined Brendan Rodgers’ men on a five-year deal this afternoon and spoke to the club’s official YouTube channel to discuss the move.
Looking excited and nervous, the 23-year-old has already taken part in his first official interview as a Celtic player where he revealed all.
Lagerbielke said [Celtic YouTube], “I think the first contact was a little more than a week ago and from there it all happened pretty fast.
“So I heard of the interest and then, obviously, I was really excited from the beginning and I was pushing for making the deal to happen.”
The defender was then asked if he found it difficult to concentrate on his duties for Elfsborg. Lagerbielke played his last game for the Allsvenskan side on Sunday but couldn’t help his old side avoid defeat.
Lagerbielke continued, “I think the most difficult thing was everything around it. Once you’re on the pitch you don’t have time to think of anything else.
“It was fun to get one last game with Elfsborg also even though we lost but it felt good to end that chapter in a good way.
“And now I’m just excited now to be here.”

The Celtic fans will be excited to see the new man in action. With Brendan Rodgers’ men looking forward to league cup action on Sunday against Kilmarnock, he could be pitched in to make his debut at Rugby Park.
I felt the young man spoke really well and the fact he admits he pushed for the move also tells me how desperate he was to play for the club.
Let’s hope he’s just as successful as the past Swedish defenders we have had at Celtic because, if he is, the Hoops fans have got a very good player on their hands.
