Celtic defender Gustaf Lagerbielke has been a peripheral figure under Brendan Rodgers since joining from Elfsborg last summer.
The Sweden international has made just ten competitive appearances for the club, scoring once against Feyenoord in the Champions League last December.
Lecce tried and failed to sign Lagerbielke on loan in January due to an injury concern involving Cameron Carter-Vickers. However, he has since admitted that he would be open to a new challenge if an ideal opportunity presented itself.
Rodgers has opened up on Lagerbielke’s future, indicating there is a possibility he could depart despite maintaining a ‘terrific attitude’ despite being on the fringes of his side.
Now, two Serie A suitors have reportedly shown interest in the 24-year-old as his next steps come into focus.
Gustaf Lagerbielke’s Celtic future under the spotlight
According to Sportbladet, Lagerbielke has attracted interest from Serie A duo Hellas Verona and Parma this window. There may feasibly be an opening for him to take his next career step away from Parkhead.
It has become apparent for a while now that the Swedish defender could be one of Celtic’s summer window casualties, though it remains to be seen if either of the pair will follow up their admiration with an offer to land the former Elfsborg man.

Lecce were said to have made another approach this summer to try and acquire Lagerbielke on a loan deal with an option to buy; nevertheless, the link has since gone cold in the public domain.
Having featured as a substitute three times during Celtic’s pre-season tour of the United States, the Stockholm-born man has been visible to supporters following his limited involvement across 2023/24.
With the window open for just over another month, it will be intriguing to see if anything develops involving Lagerbielke’s future as both he and the Bhoys look to figure out a way forward.
