It won’t be too long before the Celtic players are back for pre-season.

Yes, Celtic’s domestic season only ended last month, but on July 1, the players and Brendan Rodgers will be back in action at Lennoxtown.

There will be some fresh faces in training, including the returning Kieran Tierney, and possibly other new faces because the 2025 summer transfer window is wide open.

Tierney and Ross Doohan are the only two senior players to join, as there have been rumours and speculation about others linking their names to Scotland’s most successful club.

One player has been much-talked-about for a long time, and now his dad has weighed in on his future.

What Celtic transfer target Lennon Miller won’t do

Lennon Miller is wanted by Celtic, but as of this moment, ‘nobody has made a bid for him’, according to his dad, Lee Miller.

As posted by PLZ Soccer, Miller’s father, who also played in the Scottish Premiership, expects his son to leave Motherwell and take that next step in his career.

But the man who played for the likes of Aberdeen, Dundee United and Falkirk, made it clear that Miller’s next move has to result in him earning regular minutes and he can’t get ‘sucked into a massive club’ for the sake of it.

“He is back at Motherwell on Monday (for pre-season),” shared Miller senior. “So, nothing has happened, as of yet. Yes, there is loads of speculation and loads of talk on Twitter, etc… And it’s a different club every day.

“It’s quite funny watching it, and how it’s progressing. Essentially, nobody has made bids for him. Yes, he would like to further his career down the line, but we will have to wait to see what happens.

“As a footballer, as a parent of a footballer, there are always massive decisions to make. Lennon’s next move is so important. A lot of players would get sucked into a massive club, and going, ‘right, I have arrived’.

“But there needs to be a lot of thought process, and there has been a lot of thought process of his next move, because it’s a development move again.

“The next one is important because he has to play. He has to develop. He has to then kick on again. Everyone has seen that with Scotland.”

Miller is a ‘student of the game’

At the age of 18, Miller is not only a regular for Motherwell, who narrowly missed out on a top-six finish last term.

But he is now a Scotland international, after making his debut for Steve Clarke this month, and you wonder if that has added a few more millions to his price tag, as Celtic hover above.

Either way, Miller’s dad has shared how the Motherwell star has always had a ‘mature’ nature to his play, and is also a ‘student of the game’.

“He’s a credit to himself with the way that he has coped with everything that has happened to him, so far,” said Miller.

“Being his dad, I have watched every single game nearly that he has played in, and that’s how he has played since he was a youngster at Motherwell and since he was at his Boys Club. Directing things. Wanting the ball. Understanding.

“He has been a student of the game for so long. He has watched me at so many clubs. He is sucked into games, and he has studied it for so many years. That’s why he has that maturity on the pitch. He understands the game.

“That’s why so many people say, ‘he is so mature for his age. He looks as if he has played 500 games in the first team’, and he is only 18. Long may that continue. He is thriving.”
