Celtic are set to face competition to sign Mathias Kvistgaarden in January, with clubs across Europe reportedly also interested in the Danish forward.

Football Scotland report that clubs in England, Germany, and France are all looking to sign Kvistgaarden in January.

Celtic were recently linked with a return for the forward in the upcoming transfer window after failing to meet their valuation during the summer months.

Celtic reportedly bid £4 million in the summer for Kvistgaarden, but Brondby are said to be looking for a fee of around £7.5 million.

Celtic are now set to return with an increased bid, but whether the Hoops are willing to pay £7.5 million for Kvistgaarden remains to be seen.

Kvistgaarden previous fuelled transfer speculation over a move to Celtic, after revealing he is considering an exit from Brondby.

The Danish striker has had a great season in his homeland, scoring five goals and providing six assists in 16 Superliga games this season. He also provided an assist for Nicolai Vallys on Saturday for Brondby’s opener in a 3-3 draw with Lyngby.

Kvistgaarden is not only a goal-scorer but also a creative striker who is just as capable of scoring goals as he is at setting up teammates.

At times this season, both Kyogo Furuhashi and Hyeongyu Oh have failed to score, leaving Celtic to appear to lack a creative threat upfront. This was evident in 0-0 draws against St Johnstone and Hibernian, as well as a 1-1 draw on Saturday with Motherwell, with Celtic’s only goal coming from a penalty.

Kvistgaarden has consistently demonstrated his ability to provide assists for Brondby. This would add another dimension to Celtic’s attack, as Kvistgaarden is not a conventional striker solely focused on scoring goals; he is just as adept at providing assists.

When unable to score, both Kyogo and Oh have appeared withdrawn from games. A striker like Kvistgaarden could seek to link up more with teammates, potentially forcing opposition defenders out of position and creating more chances a problem apparent against Motherwell on Saturday.

Kvistgaarden looks to be an exciting transfer target for Celtic, offering a different dimension upfront for the Hoops compared to what they already possess with Kyogo and Oh.
