Jahmai Simpson-Pusey makes his feelings clear to FC Koln following his Celtic nightmare

Jahmai Simpson-Pusey’s only Celtic appearance came under Martin O’Neill.

The youngster from Manchester City was signed by Celtic on a season-long loan deal when Brendan Rodgers was in charge.

But for some strange reason, Simpson-Pusey spent more time away from the matchday squad and then on the bench than on the pitch.

It was even more baffling that he wasn’t handed more minutes and starts, given how Celtic struggled from a defensive aspect.

That’s why it wasn’t a surprise that Simpson-Pusey’s loan deal was cut short, and now signed for FC Koln in the Bundesliga.

Who is the worst Celtic signing of all time?

Jahmai-Simpson Pusey on ‘fresh start’ in Cologne after Celtic exit

There are suggestions that FC Koln, who are sitting in the bottom half of the Bundesliga table, could sign Simpson-Pusey for ‘£10 million’ from Manchester City.

Interestingly, a £10 million-rated player isn’t deemed good enough for the champions of Scotland, but the player himself seems relieved that he has joined a new club.

After signing on the dotted line for Koln, he told the German club that this move is a ‘fresh start’, and that he wants to ‘play as many games as possible.’

“The move to Cologne is a fresh start for me, one I’m really looking forward to,” Simpson-Pusey told FC Koln’s website.

“When I learned about FC and its history, I wanted to get started right away. Now I’m excited to meet my teammates – and Hennes, when we’re back in Cologne. I want to play as many games as possible here and help FC achieve its goals this season.”

Simpson-Pusey dubbed a ‘talented player’

There might be some Celtic fans who watch out for Simpson-Pusey, just to see how he progresses in his career.

If he goes on to have a strong career, then it won’t be a good look for those at Celtic who didn’t play him.

Either way, Koln’s sporting director, Thomas Kessler, described him as a ‘talented player.’

“Jahmai is a talented player who, despite his young age, has already gained experience at a high level,” said Kessler.

“He was trained at a top international club, is technically gifted, and possesses excellent ball control.

“His signing expands our options in central defence and provides the necessary squad depth.

“Furthermore, Jahmai brings high motivation and a strong ambition, which will positively influence internal competition.”
