It’s going to be interesting to see how Celtic’s squad shapes up for next season because there could be some big changes.
Brendan Rodgers is dominating in Glasgow once again and he has also seen an improvement in the Champions League as knockout football beckons.
Apart from a few scratches here and there, you can’t complain about too much as the Treble is on for Celtic, but there is still a long way to go for that to happen.
The January transfer window is open and Rodgers has openly spoken about wanting to conclude deals, even though it has been fairly quiet at the halfway stage.
One man on everyone’s lips is Kieran Tierney returning to Celtic and if he will don the colours of his boyhood club again.
As of this moment, he isn’t needed because the Bhoys already have two left-backs on their books – starter Greg Taylor and on-loan Barcelona star, Alex Valle.
Valle will head back to Barcelona, but it’s Taylor, who is out of contract in the summer, who has been creating the big debates and interesting headlines.
James McFadden thinks Greg Taylor could leave Celtic after six years
Ironically enough, Taylor entered the Celtic building in 2019 as Tierney joined Arsenal and now they could do the same again, but the other way around.
Rodgers wants to keep Taylor, but James McFadden feels the Scotland international might want to ‘try something different’ in his career, as he told Sky Sports Football (14/01/25 at 7:55 pm).
Regardless of what happens, McFadden wanted to give Taylor his flowers and how he has been a ‘fantastic servant’ to Scotland’s greatest club.
Eilidh Barbour asked: “Talk about a lot more to come from him. Do you think there comes a time when you have been at a club for many years as Greg Taylor has that maybe you think you want to just see what else is out there and what else you achieve? Where else you can take your career?”
McFadden responded: “Yeah, possibly. I think, at his age as well, he is looking at it financially, as well as trying something different. There is a big discussion surrounding Greg Taylor. He is out of contract. The club have been linked with Kieran Tierney and if Tierney is fully fit, then you expect him to play every game.
“But that’s the nature of the beast of being at a club like Celtic. There has to be competition. You are always trying to get better. If you can bring in someone better, as we have with Greg Taylor throughout the years, he has risen his levels when he has had a challenge. In terms of his personality and character, you know exactly what you are going to get from him every single game. He has been a tremendous servant. If the club decides that they can’t agree a deal on Greg Taylor and they want something else, then he has been a fantastic servant to Celtic.”

Taylor’s Celtic’s career in numbers
Not many can argue, if Tierney and Taylor are playing at their best, then the former is the one who starts week in and week out.
You wonder if that will be on the back of his mind, and if he does head for the exit door, then he leaves a club legend and someone who won a countless number of trophies.
Taylor flourished under Ange Postecoglou and has continued to prove his worth under Rodgers, who style of play probably suits the left-footed technician far better.
