Celtic’s January transfer business has been a little slow, with fans hoping it will pick up on deadline day.
After winger Nicolas Kuhn joined early on in the window, nothing has since come through, with the hope that striker Adam Idah will join Celtic on a loan deal from Norwich City.
Either way, John Hartson says he has been ‘bewildered’ by the lack of activity from Celtic this month, as he told Go Radio.
The former striker questioned whether someone like Callum McGregor would urge the powers that be to bring in some much-needed quality.
Even perhaps Brendan Rodgers asking the Celtic captain what is needed because John Hartson feels he has ‘earned the right to do that’.
Callum McGregor is one of the most important players at the club, both on and off the pitch, with his two standout displays coming against Rangers.
And whilst that has allowed the Bhoys to hold a lead at the top of the table, the signs are pretty clear that something has got to give.

“I am bewildered at the lack of business Celtic have done,” said Hartson.
On if McGregor will be urging Celtic to get deals done: “I think he should, if he isn’t, then Callum has got the authority and the respect. He has earnt it to say ‘look, we need a bit of help here. We have got this league. We are in front. They have got games in hand’.
“Secretly, one-v-one, I think Brendan might ask Callum what he thinks and what he wants, because I think he has earned the right to do that.”
Mood going into the Aberdeen game
If deals are concluded on Thursday, then the mood going into the weekend showdown with Aberdeen is going to be a pretty uplifting one.
What’s interesting is that Aberdeen sacked Barry Robson as manager on Wednesday, so what kind of reaction that will get out of the players remains to be seen.
Either way, a strong finish to the window, it’s about quality, not quantity, and three points at the weekend, then things will start to look on the up again.
