The last week has seen Celtic’s January transfer window explode into life and now fans are waiting to see what the final week presents.

You expect and suspect that deals will be concluded, and don’t be surprised if there are a few, as Brendan Rodgers further boosts his squad.

Yes, Celtic have a healthy lead at the top of the Premiership table, but they are in the knockout stages of the Champions League and that extra quality will be needed.

Everyone is focusing their eyes on the forward areas because Kyogo Furuhashi has left to join Rennes, as that goalscoring void needs to be filled.

But it looks like the Bhoys might also further enhance their midfield, especially after surprising news emerged from across the Premiership on Monday.

All the talk was about Jota returning to Celtic, but attention quickly turned elsewhere.

Celtic put four goals past Motherwell the last time they met in December, including a comfortable win at Fir Park at the start of the campaign.

But after back-to-back defeats to strugglers St Johnstone, Stuart Kettlewell made the surprise call and resigned as Motherwell manager on Monday afternoon.

In unfortunate circumstances, Kettlewell, whose side are sitting fifth in the Premiership, cited ‘personal abuse’ as his reason to leave, which was ‘affecting his family’.

Yes, all eyes are on Celtic’s Champions League showdown against Aston Villa on Wednesday night, but the champions visit Fir Park at the weekend and you suspect an interim boss will be in the opposition dugout.

“Stuart Kettlewell would have been two years in charge next month,” stated Mark Guidi on Go Radio. “He took over from club legend, Steve Hammell.

“That is the question for Brian Caldwell, the Chief Executive at Motherwell and the hierarchy as to who takes over. Would it be someone out of work to try and avoid paying compensation, although Motherwell aren’t cash-rich”

Lennon Miller will leave Motherwell amid Celtic interest

As Kettlewell’s resignation shocks Motherwell, things could get worse for the club because they are expected to lose star man, Lennon Miller.

Guidi added on Go Radio that he expects Miller to leave for ‘around £3.5 million’ and he cited Celtic as an interested party, alongside clubs in Germany and Italy.

Barry Ferguson labelled the rising midfielder as a ‘quality operator’, as Celtic could once again look closer to home to enhance their quality in the middle of the pitch.

“He is a quality operator in the middle of the pitch,” stated Ferguson on Motherwell missing Miller in recent weeks.

“Although, within the next seven days,” added Guidi. “They may well sell Lennon Miller for around £3.5 million. I think that’s going to happen. I think Lennon Miller will be away.

“Lots of interest. Serie A clubs. There is more than one team. There is interest from down south. There is interest from the Bundesliga and there is interest from Celtic.

“Celtic have retained an interest in the player, which has been a long-term look at him.”
