Every Celtic fan knows that you can’t presume a new signing is getting made until the player is at Parkhead with the scarf above his head.
Whilst Yamada officially remains a J League player, that seems to be over now.
In a statement on Kawasaki Frontale’s official website, the club said, “We would like to inform you that Arata [Shin] Yamada will be leaving the team at the end of today’s (July 16th) activity in order to complete the necessary procedures to enable him to transfer to a club overseas.
“We will notify you further regarding future plans as soon as they are officially decided.
“In addition, after the Emperor’s Cup third round match against SC Sagamihara, which is being held today (July 16th), Arata Yamada will give a speech to the supporters.”

Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph said about the Japanese striker, “We’ve been reporting they’re very close to sealing a £1.5m deal for Kawasaki Frontale striker Shin Yamada.
“He’s on international duty with Japan until tomorrow. He’s at a tournament in South Korea that was for Japanese-based players only.
“And after that I think within a week he should be flying over to the UK and completing a medical, and all being well finalising that move.”
And after Frontale’s statement today, it looks like Joseph was spot on as Yamada’s J League exit has now been made official by the club.
