Kieron Bowie and another Celtic target ‘agree’ moves elsewhere as deadline nears

We are now in the final days of Celtic’s January transfer window.

The 30 days so far have been less eventful than hoped. At the turn of the year, Wilfried Nancy was still in the dugout.

Nancy orchestrated the signing of Julian Araujo from Bournemouth, bolstering Celtic’s right-back options. Days later, he was sacked.

Since Martin O’Neill’s return, only Tomas Cvancara has been added to his squad. A week on from the signing, the transfer deadline is nearing.

Two players intensely linked with Celtic this month have agreed moves elsewhere, shortening their options for the final days.

Kieron Bowie and another Celtic target agree alternative moves

Some were clamouring for Celtic to take Bowie from Hibernian, and there were suggestions from Easter Road that the player would’ve been open to the move.

The 23-year-old is a strong, tall striker with tidy feet and impressive link-up. Understandably, he hasn’t gone for cheap.

Bowie has travelled to Italy to complete a move to Hellas Verona, with a reported fee of €7 million being paid to Hibernian.

It’s a bit of a coup for the Italian club, who currently sit four points away from safety in the Serie A relegation battle.

Bowie moves to the same side who brought Josh Doig from Hibs to Italy in 2022. Doig now plays for Sassuolo, who sit 11th.

Additionally, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi has decided on his next destination, and the winger won’t be heading to Celtic.

23-year-old Rak-Sakyi has been out on loan in Turkey from Crystal Palace, having had interest from both Celtic and Rangers in the summer.

Joe Krishnan reports that several Turkish teams and even Monaco made enquiries for the England youth international, but he will move to Stoke City on loan with an obligation to buy.

How many more signings do you think Celtic need to win the title?

Darren O’Dea on Celtic target Jesurun Rak-Sakyi

On the Go Radio Football Show, Darren O’Dea sang Rak-Sayki’s praises earlier this week.

He said: “When I was at Swansea, we tried to sign him in the summer, and he is a very talented player. Winger. Brilliant one-v-one.

“As a player, 100%, I would take him. But then, when you go through the recruitment, especially in January, you need him to come in and play immediately. Hit the ground running.

“Reality tells you that he hasn’t been playing much football. That means, the more talented player you get, and if they are playing week in and week out, they don’t become available.

“So, there is a level of risk that needs to be taken. He has obviously gone to Turkey and not played much football.”
