Celtic fans wait patiently to see what transfer business is concluded before Monday’s 11 pm deadline.

It has been a rather interesting January transfer window for Brendan Rodgers and Celtic because not many expected the club to be in such a position.

From Kyogo Furuhashi leaving Parkhead to Jota returning and then scoring on his second debut as Celtic beat Motherwell on Sunday.

It has been some month for the Glasgow giants, including securing a passage into the knockout stages of the Champions League.

But the fact remains that Kyogo hasn’t been replaced and it’s a dangerous road for the club to go down, especially with that two-legged affair against Bayern Munich coming up.

Many names have been doing the rounds and Kris Boyd reacted to links with a forward who Rodgers is pretty familiar with.

Celtic told Kelechi Iheanacho is a ‘toally different’ to Kyogo Furuhashi

There were suggestions that Celtic wanted to sign Mathias Kvistgaarden, but talks with Brondby have broken down, so are these Kelechi Iheanacho links proof that attention is being turned to other players?

Boyd highlighted Iheanacho’s spell in the Premier League, including with Rodgers at Leicester City, where he netted 42 goals and supplied 25 assists from 196 games for two different clubs.

The former striker noted that Rodgers needs to bring in a replacement for Kyogo and how someone like Iheanacho is a ‘totally different’ player, as he told Sky Sports.

“A totally different player (to Kyogo),” responded Boyd. “Of course, Brendan Rodgers has worked with him in the past. An FA Cup winner with him as well. He has gone to Sevilla, it’s not really happened for him. He is probably looking back to playing regular football.

“It might be an opportunity for Celtic to bring someone in. He has a great pedigree when you look at what he has done in the Premier League over a period of time. I don’t think he has ever been a goalscorer on a regular basis so much. He can bring so much to the games that he plays.

“Brendan does need to get someone in there. Letting Kyogo go, yes, it’s good money for a 30-year-old. But when you have got someone, with being how difficult it is for your team to get a goalscorer, Celtic had one, they let him go and they will have to get someone in, that’s for sure.”

Latest on Celtic’s push for Iheanacho

It’s not what the Celtic fans want to hear, but you can rule out Iheanacho heading to Glasgow, unless something drastically changes.

As the deadline looms, it seems as though Iheanacho will be joining Middlesbrough in the English Championship.

Yes, Celtic shouldn’t rush or panic buy, but at the end of the day, if that Kyogo replacement doesn’t, arrive, then fans have the right to be annoyed.
