A fresh Luis Palma transfer update has claimed Celtic have ended negotiations with Lech Poznań altogether.
If accurate, it would represent the clearest sign yet that the Scottish champions believe they have gone as far as they are willing to go in discussions over the Honduran winger.
A new update from Honduran journalist Alvaro De La Rocha claims the Hoops have rejected another proposal from Lech Poznań and have now ended negotiations with the Polish champions.
Translated, De La Rocha says, “Celtic REJECTED once again the proposal from Lech Poznań for the transfer of Luis Palma.
“The Scottish side DECLARED THE NEGOTIATIONS OVER with the Polish champions.
“This is how it stands: if Poznań wants to keep the Honduran star, they must pay the 4M€ release clause.
“I understand they only have one week to make the payment effective; the Honduran’s camp has had no further communication from Lech’s management.
“Meanwhile, Sevilla continues to closely follow everything that’s happening, just as I reported exclusively.”
The Scottish champions have already shown they are willing to do business over Palma this summer. However, there is a major difference between being open to a sale and accepting an offer that falls below the club’s valuation.
Luis Palma: overrated or underrated?
Why Celtic may have decided enough is enough over Palma
Recent reports have suggested Celtic have already lowered their asking price for the Honduras international compared to earlier expectations.
That alone demonstrates the club are not being unreasonable. If anything, it shows they have been prepared to help facilitate a permanent move after Palma’s successful spell away from Glasgow.
Lech Poznań’s continued pursuit also tells its own story. The Polish side have made no secret of their desire to keep the winger, while multiple reports have indicated they have returned with improved offers.
If those bids are still not enough, Celtic are perfectly entitled to reject them. At some stage negotiations have to end, and this latest claim suggests the club believe that point has now arrived.
Lech’s determination only strengthens Celtic’s position
The most significant part of the latest report is not that Celtic rejected another offer. It is the claim that they have ended negotiations altogether.
The biggest reason Celtic should remain firm is that demand for Palma clearly exists.
Lech’s public push to sign him permanently has handed the Hoops a strong negotiating position. Clubs rarely continue pursuing a player this aggressively unless they believe he can make a significant impact.
There have also been reports linking Sevilla with Palma, further underlining that Celtic are not dealing with a player whose market value has collapsed.
Instead, the opposite appears true. Palma’s performances during his loan spell have helped rebuild his stock and given Celtic every reason to seek the best possible deal.
If Lech genuinely want to retain the winger, the latest update suggests they know exactly what it will take. Celtic have already shown flexibility. They should not be expected to compromise any further if the numbers still do not add up.
