There have been many success stories from Celtic’s recruitment strategy of signing unknown players and turning them into stars.
From the rise and record sale of Matt O’Riley to the Japan stars that have ripped it up in the colours of Celtic.
But you have to take the rough with the smooth, and that’s certainly the case with winger, Luis Palma.
The 25-year-old joined Celtic in 2023 from Greek side, Aris Thessaloniki, but has never been able to nail down a regular place in Brendan Rodgers’ XI.
That’s why, during the January transfer window, Palma was loaned out to Olympiacos, but it’s fair to say that he hasn’t lived up to the hype in Greece too.
So, what does this now mean for Palma’s future at Celtic, when he returns to Glasgow in the summer?!

Luis Palma told he has no future at Celtic amid struggles at Olympiacos
When Palma was at Celtic in the winter, Nicolas Kuhn was flying on one flank, and Daizen Maeda was playing on the other.
Even if the Honduras international was playing well, he was never going to dethrone those two from Celtic’s XI, but he never even knocked on the door.
When John Hartson was told that Palma is set to return to Celtic in the summer, he made it clear that he has no future, and with three years left on his contract, he will simply be loaned out again, as he told Go Radio.
“I don’t think so,” responded Hartson on Palma coming back. “Unless he comes back and he improves dramatically, then I think Brendan will look to bring other players in.
“You will probably see Palma, what did you say, three years left on his contract, so I would imagine the plan for Palma would be to go back out on loan. Where you can still pay him half of the wages, and another club help you out, in terms of his finances.
“You aren’t going to use him that much.”
Palma’s stats for Celtic and Olympiacos
The issue with Palma is that he is one-dimensional when playing out on that left flank, and that’s only knowing one thing, and that’s cutting onto his favoured right foot.
Added to that, he isn’t exactly an explosive player, he can’t beat an opponent with pace or trickery, so little is left to be desired when watching him play.
And, with only one goal to his name since moving to Olympiacos, it’s fair to say that they won’t be taking him back when his loan deal expires.
